To help you prepare for your journey to the United States, the Office of International Services (OIS) developed a pre-arrival overview to guide you with the important tasks ahead. We recommend beginning this process (from the top of this page and left to right) as soon as you accept your JHU admission and receive the visa documentation email from OIS.

Pre-Arrival Checklist
Step 1: Request & Receive an I-20/DS-2019 from OIS

Important Notes: OIS will notify by email when I-20/DS-2019 is available (on iHopkins). Review for accuracy, print, and sign. Your name on the I-20/DS-2019 follows U.S. government rules based on your passport. Hyphens and non-English characters are not used. If you have one name, it will appear as your primary name. The major listed may differ from the JHU program name due to government classifications. The program end date on the form is always an estimate based on the typical time to completion for the degree program.
Step 2: Schedule, Prepare and Attend Your F-1/J-1 Visa Interview

If you received your I-20 or DS-2019 after one of these emails was sent, we encourage you to review the information you missed.
