The U.S. government shutdown beginning October 1, 2025 directly impacts H-1B processing at JHU.  Case delays of indeterminate length are not reflected on OIS H-1B timelines.

As a sponsor of H-1B temporary workers, an inspector in the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services [USCIS] Fraud Detection and National Security Directorate [FDNS] may contact Johns Hopkins University at any time. USCIS started the Administrative Site Visit and Verification Program in July 2009. The purpose of these contacts is to verify JHU’s existence and the accuracy of information in the JHU’s H-1B petition. These visits may occur in person, by phone, or by email. FDNS inspectors may request to speak to staff in OIS, with sponsored H-1B employees, direct supervisors of H-1B employees, and other departmental representatives. If you have been notified by OIS of an announced site visit or you have been contacted directly by a FDNS inspector, review the information below.

Contact OIS at [email protected] for any questions.
