All individuals whose visa status is sponsored by JHU are required to “check-in” with the Office of International Services upon arrival to the respective campus. In most cases, the check-in process will be completed through iHopkins, but some individuals may need to complete this process via e-mail. Please carefully review the information below.

F-1 Student Check-In (Online)

Newly admitted students will be contacted by email regarding the check-in process.  Your first step in the process will be reviewing the online F-1 New Student Orientation which will give you basic information about your immigration rights and responsibilities.  You will need to also be prepared to upload copies of certain immigration documents, details of which are located in the SEVIS Check-in Document Upload Instructions. Please note that you cannot be verified for on campus employment until the check in is completed and approved.

J-1 Student Check-In (Online)

Incoming students in J-1 status will be contacted by email regarding the check-in process.  If your J-1 status is sponsored by JHU, your first step will be reviewing the online Orientation Presentation which will give you basic information about your immigration rights and responsibilities.  You will need to also be prepared to upload copies of certain immigration documents, details of which are located in the SEVIS Check-in Document Upload Instructions.

J-1 Scholar Check-In (Online)
