Students who plan to participate in non-degree study at Johns Hopkins University (JHU) may be eligible for either F-1 or J-1 immigration status, depending on the nature and purpose of their activities at JHU.
Students currently enrolled in a degree program at an institution outside the United States who come to JHU for full-time research, coursework or a combination of both may qualify for JHU sponsorship under the J-1 Exchange Visitor Student-Non-Degree category.
Johns Hopkins University also offers a range of summer programs for high school students. International participants in these programs may be required to obtain F-1 status in order to enter the U.S. for summer study.
The pages below provide detailed information about the immigration requirements, eligibility criteria, and the application processes for these non-degree study options.
