TN Sponsorship Assessment

Departments and divisions must consult OIS before a prospective employee seeks entry in TN status. To make a preliminary determination if TN sponsorship is appropriate for the candidate and planned employment or scholarly activities at JHU, the department/division should send the following documents to [email protected]:

  • TN applicant’s passport ID page
  • TN applicant’s CV/resume
  • JHU position description

If OIS determines TN sponsorship is appropriate, an OIS advisor will contact the department/division and TN applicant to outline next steps.

Upon the Arrival of the TN Status Holder

Before TN employment begins, the TN employee must e-mail the following to: [email protected]

  • Form I-94 [Available here]
  • Completed/signed Check-in Form
  • Visa Stamp [Mexican Citizens only]

Changes to TN status and extensions of stay in TN status within the U.S.

Consult OIS at least 60 days in advance of any request to extend TN status or to discuss a planned change in the terms of TN employment. Extensions and amendments of TN status require travel or the filing of a TN petition with USCIS. For more information email [email protected].
