A driver's license is issued by the state in which you reside.  Each state has dedicated offices that issue driver's licences and specific application procedures and requirements.  In addition, each state has it's own rules regarding eligibility for a license and permissability of driving with a license issued by another U.S. state or country.  Please make sure to read the state agency's website carefully.  Before applying for a driver's license, it is highly recommended that you wait a MINIMUM of ten business days from your check-in with the OIS.  Failure to wait may result in a delay in processing your license.
